My Interview With Bill Pullman

Working with the Hawai'i International Film Festival I was able to get the opportunity to watch incredible films and give feedback with my personal thoughts on the movies. Plus, I got a pretty cool press pass that allowed me to enter the movies I chose to watch, for free. HIFF's 37th event brought many surprises through its time on Oahu, including a surprise screening of the new Thor: Ragnarok movie followed by a Q & A with its director, Taika Waititi. Taika Waititi was presented for the inaugural HIFF Pacific Islanders In Communications Trailblazer Award.

Among those awardees was the well-known actor, Bill Pullman who was being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Halekulani. He starred in a recent film that was included in the film festival this year as well, The Ballad of Lefty Brown. After watching the movie, I knew I wanted the chance to speak with him about the film and his experience in acting. I've always had a passion for acting and I thought this would be the perfect chance for me to speak to someone who has done it.

By a weird turn of events, an interview opportunity arose, thanks to the Halekulani. After immediately reading the email regarding this information, I replied to a 20 minute spot that would allow me to speak to the President himself (movie reference). Two days later, I got a reply and my spot was locked in, with just one day away from the interview I came up with a several amount of questions to ask him about his recent film and any projects he is currently working on.

The day of the interview started off as a great Saturday morning, we were on our way to there, just my roommate and I, when it started to rain, heavy. We were on mopeds so the rain had a large effect on us, when we showed up soaked. The hotel was really nice towards and helped us out but providing dry towels and access to a restroom where we could clean up a bit.

Once we met up with our point-of-contact, we were escorted to nearby elevator that could only be accessed with a special key card. We exited the elevator and headed towards a waiting area where we would wait until it was our turn to interview Bill. Finally, when our time came to the interview, we took a different approach and conducted an interview totally off script and getting to some inspirational material.

I provide the link to the interview, so you could witness this unique interaction with Mr. Pullman himself.
